Profile

Born on January 31, 2010.
Grade 5 student in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

The Fish Art Creator officially recognized by the City of Numazu.

In the summer of 2017, when he was seven years old (Grade 2 student), he painted his favorite deep-sea fish on the walls inside the convenience store in Heda, Numazu City, which became popular in the region, and also held the “Bokuno Daisukina Shinkaigyoten (Exhibition of My Favorite Deep-sea Fish)” at Michi No Eki Kurura Heda in Heda, Numazu City for three months from his winter holiday.

He completed 20 pieces of watercolor painting, all of which were auctioned. We donated 60 percent of the revenue (120,000 yen) to a general incorporated association that works on the promotion of deep-fish.

Immediately before the “Bokuno Daisukina Shinkaigyoten (Exhibition of My Favorite Deep-sea Fish),” four companies in Shizuoka Prefecture offered him an opportunity for exhibition and in 2018, when he was eight years old (Grade 3 student), he held the “Reptiles of the World – Hachurui Gururi,” an exhibition of his watercolor painting of reptiles, touring at eight locations in Shizuoka Prefecture(from May to the end of December 2018).

As Shota strongly insisted, we donated 60 percent of the revenue to iZoo, an interactive zoo located in Shizuoka Prefecture, which was used to finance their “Kyodaiike Kensetsu (huge pond construction) Project” and the protection and raising of turtles (donated 141,000 yen on May 25, 2019).

Before the “Reptiles of the World – Hachurui Gururi,” we received an offer from Mon Musée Numazu and the “9sai Suzuki Shota Ten – Surugawan no Kaiyoseibutsutachi (9-year-old Shota Suzuki Exhibition – Marine Life in Suruga Bay)” was held through a full tie-up with Mon Musée Numazu at the Museum from March 30 to April 21, 2019.

In June 2020, Shinasui no Shinkaiseibutsuten – Shinkaigyo no machi Numazu kara ekakishonen ga yattekita (Shinagawa Aquarium’s exhibition of deep-sea creatures – A young painter has come from Numazu, the city of deep-sea fish) was held at Shinagawa Aquarium in Tokyo. Until September 7, 2020, the Aquarium held the “Shinagawa Aquarium Gallery of All ‘Coloring Contest’ Entries” using two pieces of watercolor painting drawn by Shota.

Concept

“I want to sell my paintings to make donations!”

It was his seventh New Year when he watched the news about the huge pond construction project of an interactive zoo, iZoo, on TV.
After watching the news, Shota thought about how he could help the turtles.

What drove him was a very simple fact.
It was just because the turtles were in trouble.
He surprised everyone around him including his parents.

He says he is willing to remain a part of the regional revitalization and social contribution activities through painting which he loves doing.

Through painting favorite deep-sea fish, marine life and reptiles, Shota will continue to challenge and carry out what he can do as an elementary school student, or rather what only an elementary school student can do, without fear or limit but with passion.
